More About Permanent Tooth Replacement Options

Tooth ReplacementAfter losing one or several teeth, visit our office to discuss your tooth replacement options. Losing a tooth does not have to be life-altering and it does not have to impact your appearance. As an experienced dentist and oral surgeon, we have the capabilities necessary to replace your tooth in a way that is permanent and will look and feel like your natural teeth once did.

This is a critical difference between a permanent solution and wearing dentures. Since dentures are removable, they will never feel as secure or as functional as natural teeth. This makes them a sub-par solution. In fact, many denture wearers find that they never get over the concern that their dentures will fall out or slip out of place at the most awkward moments. You can avoid all of this by visiting our office and discussing permanent solutions instead.

Permanent Tooth Replacement Options

When you visit our office we will exam you and make recommendations for the type of tooth replacement solutions that we feel will be best for you. Our two most popular are:

Individual dental implants

Dental implants are incredibly popular because they replace not only your missing tooth but also the root it was attached to. When someone loses a tooth, the jawbone no longer has the same stimulation that it was once receiving. As a result, the body thinks that the jaw is no longer functioning as it should be and begins to leach calcium from that area; this is the process of resorption and it can make one’s face appear sunken. Resorption can also jeopardize your remaining teeth. Fortunately, dental implants can help to stop this process.

By implanting a titanium post under the gums and securing it into the jaw bone, the stimulation can occur once more and the body will begin to deposit bone around the actual implant. By the time we attach the new tooth, the implant will have the same level of durability and security that the natural tooth once did. Combined with a natural and beautiful appearance, this continues to be one of the most popular options our patients choose.

All-On-Four

The All-On-Four procedure combines the innovative and functional technology of dental implants with the ease of dentures. It is ideal for anyone who has suffered complete or near complete tooth loss. In this scenario, we do not place a dental implant in each location where a tooth once was. Instead, we only need to place four implants which will then serve as anchors to hold the new set of prosthetic teeth in place.

The new teeth will be made in the lab just like dentures are. They will look natural and feel comfortable with the main difference being that the implants hold them in place, eliminating concerns over potential embarrassments caused by slippage.
