Restore Your Confidence with Dental Implants

Dental ImplantsThe best way to replace missing teeth is with dental implants. If you have lost one or several teeth and are feeling self-conscious about it, dental implants are an option for restoring the beauty and efficiency of your smile.

A strong resemblance

In our office, we recommend implants because this is the solution that most resembles natural teeth. Implants simulate the body’s natural response to tooth development. With implants, we will insert a small titanium post underneath the gum line and secure it to the jaw bone. This post serves as an alternative to a natural root. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement solution that has a root, not just a visible tooth.

Interestingly, the body reacts to titanium as it does to other natural organic matter. Instead of viewing it as a foreign substance and rejecting it, the body will actually begin to deposit bone around the titanium post. In the process known as osseointegration, the body will fuse the bone with the titanium post for security and durability. It is worth the wait since this process provides the dental implant with the same level of stability of a natural tooth.

Dental implants make it possible for patients to speak with confidence, never worry about the new tooth coming out of place and eating a steak or crunchy salad. Since the new tooth will behave exactly like a natural one, there are no restrictions on activities or diet. Simple common-sense is necessary to protect all the teeth but there are no other extensive steps one has to take.

Dental implants look natural

For the next part of the procedure, the dental lab will create a crown. The crown is the synthetic tooth that the lab creates using measurements and a mold of the patient’s mouth. These steps ensure that it is the exact size and shape to blend in with the surrounding teeth.

The shade will also match the other teeth to ensure that no one will be able to tell the difference between the natural teeth and dental implant. In fact, they look so natural that many patients will forget which tooth was ever replaced because when looking in the mirror, they blend in seamlessly. This makes it possible to smile with confidence.

The process is complete

To finish the process, an abutment will be secured to the titanium post and the crown secured to it. This makes it possible for the actual implant and dental crown to be secured together but independent of each other. This way, if the crown ever becomes damaged, it can be restored without the implant being removed.

Dental implants are an alternative to dentures

Anyone currently wearing dentures and feeling frustrated with them may find that implants are an ideal alternative. While the procedure takes longer, it can be worth it to have the benefits of a durable and fully functioning set of teeth.
